UNIMED Message

Some days ago, we have received the sad news that Prof. Sufyan Tayeh, the Rector of the Islamic University of Gaza - UNIMED Member University, died with his children and family members, during an Israeli air strike in the region of Al-Faluja, precisely targeting his house.

We express our condolences to his family and the entire Palestinian academic community. We lost a scientist, a friend, a person that came back to Gaza thinking that education is the solution for a future of peace and prosperity.

UNIMED community calls for an immediate ceasefire which is the only way to start thinking to find a political solution to this drama. We are absolutely convinced that hatred, violence, war, violation of international law lead to no solution except further exacerbation.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all the victims and their families of this crisis.
