Accommodation
Finding accommodation in Athens is very difficult since the
rooms in the Residence Halls are not sufficient even for the
Greek students. In order to assist foreign students, the Erasmus
Office has come to the following solution:
Upon arrival in Athens, and during their pre-registration,
students are provided with a list of persons who rent
rooms or apartments to students. The list cannot be
sent to the students before their arrival. Prices for a single
room in a shared apartment may start at 250€ per month. Prices
for small apartments for one person start at 300€ per month.
Usually, renters are asked to pay in advance a fixed amount
(equivalent to the rent of two months) as a guarantee, which
will be returned to them upon their departure.
Until permanent accommodation is found, students may stay at
certain Foreign Institutes' Guest Houses or Youth Hostels located
in the center of Athens, at relatively low prices. Students
who wish to stay there, can receive a list of them from the
Erasmus office, upon request.
Meals
Our University offers two free meals per day
(lunch and supper) to all LLP/Erasmus exchange students at one
of the following four (4) University restaurants: a) at the
School of Philosophy, for the students registered
at Faculties located in the University Campus (Panepistimiopolis
Zografou), b) at the Faculty of Medicine, for
the students registered at the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry
and Nursing (Goudi), c) at the Faculty of Physical Education
and Sport Science, for the students registered at this
faculty (41, Ethnikis Antistaseos str., Dafni) and d) at
the center of Athens, (44 Arachovis str., Exarchia),
for the students registered at a Faculty downtown.
The relevant cost is covered by our University budget as financial
support to our guest students.
For that service, students have to obtain the relevant application
by the Faculty's Secretariat upon their registration and submit
it to the Meals Service of the "University Club" [15,
Ippokratous str. (5th Floor), Tel.:210-3688216/ 8252/8230/8228
from 9:00-12:00 a.m.]. The Meals Service will supply them with
a card, which they can use in order to have free meals for the
period 1st September - 30th June (from 12:00p.m. until 16:00p.m.
for the lunch and from 18:00p.m. until 21:00p.m. for the supper).
Please note that each card is valid for only one of these
restaurants and, once you get it, you cannot replace
it with a new card that is valid for another restaurant, so
please be sure about your selection of restaurant before applying
for the card.
Health insurance
The residents of the EU countries (and also from Norway, Iceland,
Liechtenstein or Switzerland) should obtain, before their departure
from their country, the European Health Insurance Card.
Upon their registration at the National and Kapodistrian University
of Athens, all exchange students will obtain a medical care
booklet by which they are entitled to free full medical care,
(including medication* and hospital treatment**).
Whenever students need medical care, they may address the Medical
Service of the University Club: 15, Ippokratous str. (1st floor),
tel. 210 3688 208/218, or the Medical Center in the Campus of
Panepistimioupolis (Zografou) or the one in the building A/FEPA,
Oulof Palme str. 21, Ilissia.
________________________________
*For any medicines prescribed, students have to present
the medical care booklet in the next two days
at the Medical Service of the University Club in order to be
validated by the responsible doctor (every day from 8:30a.m.-13:30p.m.).
** In case students need to be hospitalized (only at
a public hospital) they have to present the document from the
hospital, according which they have entered the hospital, at
